Talking with Your Doctor about Depression

Have you been experiencing sadness on and off for at least two weeks?  Have you lost motivation or interest in tasks that were previously enjoyable?  Are you having any persistent thoughts of suicide?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, then it is time that you discuss these concerns with your doctor.   Your doctor may be able to address these symptoms or refer you to providers that are able to help you in improving your mental health.   Let's normalize the conversation on mental health and make it part of your interactions with your medical providers.  The first step in normalizing this behavior is to just begin.  Perhaps, this video will give you some insight on how to approach your doctor and discuss symptoms that you are experiencing. This video uses GP or general practitioner to refer to your doctor, primary care physician, or registered nurse practitioner.
